MISSION

To pursue and support community economic development in the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation communities that will ultimately result in economic and business development, entrepreneurship and local employment opportunities.

To successfully assist the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation communities with establishing economic and community development plans, businesses and projects to become economically viable through business development, entrepreneurship and local economies; contributing positively to the environmental and societal well-being of each community.

About CED Program

The Community Economic Development Program was developed to offer advice and services to assist band members
in creating paths that lead to success.

The role of the CED Program is to prepare potential entrepreneurs for success through advisory programs.
The CED Program encourages band members and communities to add more to their business knowledge and skills through our services.

The CED Program will lead clients to various services such as:

The CED Program coordinator makes regular visits to the several northern PBCN reserve communities in order to facilitate educational workshops and to answer questions regarding business planning and financing.

Communities

Peter Ballantyne Cree Nations is a multi-community First Nation that represents eight separate communities with over 40 distinct reserves.

There are over 10,000 band members with approximately 70% still living residing in their home communities. Reserve communities include Pelican Narrows,Sandy Bay, Deschambault Lake, Southend,Kinoosao, Denare Beach, Sturgeon Landing and Prince Albert.

These communities are located in the geographic Northeastern side of Saskatchewan from the north end of Reindeer Lake (Kinoosao) to as far south as Prince Albert and east to Sturgeon Landing near the Manitoba border.

The traditional territory of the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation.. encompasses over 30,000 square kilometres. PBCN has commercial urban reserves within Prince Albert and Creighton city limits as well as other reserves in the surrounding municipality.

The name in Cree is Amisk Osakahikan (Beaver Lake).

Location

Located in the north eastern part of the province, 18kms north of Flin Flon, MB/ Creighton, SK (Paved Road) this is the only PBCN community with paved roads, with PS Urban as exception.

Kinoosao - Thomas Clarke I.R. No. 204

Cree Name

The name in Cree is "Kinoosao" meaning, Fish or referral to Trout, Whitefish and different species of fresh water fish in Reindeer Lake.

Location

Kinoosao is located on the north end of Reindeer Lake, accessible by snombile, boat, or float plane from Southend (2hrs travel is estimated and very rough gravel from Lynn Lake, Manitoba.

Prince Albert - Chief Joseph Custer I.R. No. 201

Cree Name

The name in Cree is Kiskaciwan which is also a Cree Word, meaning a fast flowing river or current (similar to Saskatchewan).

Location

The Prince Albert community has three urban reserves with two located in the city of PA (now the PetroCan gas bar) and the other in the outskirts of PA located past the Sask Penitentiary an estimated 10 min drive West. (Paved Road, at Lily Plain turn off is 3km N. on gravel)
